Well.. yes... if it matters to you. In any case, if you are coming in a bit
too hot on your approach, it certainly won't land properly.
What flap setting/speed were you using during your approach? What was the
weight, how much fuel?

Re: Autoland Problems
Hi,
So assuming no CDU is being used:
1. then when I am landing and see the ref speed box appear at lets say 131
kts, is PM basing this from what fuel and wts and winds, etc that are
happening at that moment?...
and if number 1 is true, then can one (to make it real enough) take various
data inputs, such wt and fuel, wind, temp, etc, and try to use the 737
charts or whatever manual one has, to arrive at diff speeds and flap settings,
assuming the aircraft flight model is accurate.
...or are those speed and flap indicators in the PFD speed pole, going to be
just useless because I do not use the CDU and flight model related speeds
be off?

Fuel and weight, but it is more "scientific" if it comes from the FMC.

Yes... you can.
Any reason for not using the FMC, which I think you own, in the first
place?

They are not useless, just be close to them during an autoland if possible.

Re: Autoland Problems
Thanks Enrico,
I dont use the CDU for a few reasons, one is that I am of the old school
where I like to fly the way they use to in the mid 60s. I dont think they had
a CDU on 707s and 727s, maybe even early 737s then. I sure dont remember
seeing one in the real cockpits.
Second, I just dont have the will or time to learn how to use a CDU right
now.
