ATC and other problems - help needed pls
Hi Folks
Can anyone help with these queries please?
Why, in FSX ATC do you get handed over to another area, only to get handed back to the previous one a few seconds later?
Why is it that when approaching the destination airport, ATC put you at 90 degrees to the runway making the turn and let-down very difficult?
Why can I not see the airport runways at night until I am almost on top of them? Is it a setting I have wrong? I would have thought they would be visible from quite some distance.
Why is it that after following a flight plan, setting the Nav Frequencies correctly, and programming the fmc, then pushing the autoland, the aircraft veers off away from the runway and tries to land elsewhere?
Probably me, but would appreciate any help to get this all sorted.
Best regards
Richard

Hi Richard,
do you use any scenery addons?
What type of AC do you fly?

Are you using default FSX aircraft? Unfortunatly I cannot help with FSX specific info and can only from using PMDG and PM stuff (and reading a load of Boeing books) but it is essential to ensure that your aircraft is at 10000 foot and traveling at 250knots when you are 30nm from the runway(ref: Cpt Ray's 737 book), that way you can plan the landing properly. I have seen strange things happen when I do an auto landing but have my descent profile incorrectly entered into the FMC it is also essential to make sure that your course headings are both set to the same runway heading.
So essentially:
*Ensure you have a good descent profile, fly below the glideslope and fly into it as it were to intercept it.
*Make sure NAV1 and NAV2 are set
*Make sure your course headings are set
*Make sure your QNH is correct (always check when passing the transition altitude
*Make sure you activate the APP above 800 foot AGL.
Not sure this helps you.... but it might have

Re: ATC and other problems - help needed pls
From the LVLD 767 side:...
Make sure your ILS Reciever is set correctly (Freq and APCH CRS) in the center pedestal. There is a option to force the FMC to tune it automatically when a ARRIVAL RWY is selected in the FMC and you are 20nm within. Intercept with the vectors you get from ATC or manually. Select APP shortly before you intercept an the AC will capture the Localizer. It will also start to descend when AC flies in the glideslope.
The ATC Issue is anoying, at least for me aswell. I experiened it always when flying closed to ATC boarders. Check your map next time it happen, maybe you see that your flying at the boarder from one airspace to another.
The lighting of RWY's was never a problem for me (or my PCI believe there is settings for it in the Display options in FSX. Tick these boxes ( below the direct X box) and try again...
Hope it helps a bit
