(HELP)Image Projection
Hey guys,
For all of you that are using Projectors, could someone please help me to understand what is going on here. Seems Like I have come across something that I didn't expect.
For the past 4 years I have been using Rear Projection with a single projector. And have been projecting onto a curved screen and loved everything about it. However with that being said, I decided now that I have to room to switch to a Front projection method, and have just picked up a second projector exactly like my other with the same amount of hours on it.
Here is what I have noticed all of a sudden.
With the Projectors set up like I have them in option #1, the projected image appears to be curved in the opposite direction then the curved shape of the screen.
Other then using software like SOL7, would I benefit by trying to used the projectors in a more straight on configuration like that in option #2?
Any help that you could all provide would be very beneficial to me.
I am open to suggestions.
Thanks, In advance,

Based on very little practical experience with projectors....
I'd say option 1 is an optical delusion and option 2 should help.God's in command, I'm just the Pilot.

projectors
hi trev......
option 2 is exactly how i have my projectors set up. works a dream.
2.8 mtrs height and 3 metres from the screen in ceiling mode. allows
me the freedom to match the two projected images (almost) seamlessly.
i agree with andy, the first option may be creating an 'illusion'.
so there you go.
have a good one and regards from wales.... ian

Wonderful news.
Now, for the rub... How far apart do you have the projectors from each other?
would they each be centered on each 1/2 of the screen? My screen is 6 m wide total (including the curve), by using 2- 3m materials.
or do you have them tight together and just angled outwards?
Thanks Guys,

did you ever feel inferior :o))
hello trev....
6 metre wide screen !! you must be stinking rich ))
sadly based on my space constraints i have to make do with a mere three.
so what i have done quite correctly is to 'centre' the projectors in each half of the cockpit which in turn populates it's own half of the screen. they have to be angled slightly outwards to fill as much space i can. it's then just a matter of p*****g (that's playing) around with the zoom and keystone to get it looking right.
when i started 'playing' with the projection, i knocked up a couple of temporary simple wooden frames to hold the projectors which i could clamp along the mounting beam to get best position. when i was finally happy with it, i marked it up and made the mounts permanent. distance in my setup is centre of one projector to centre of the other 85cms.
but bear in mind that if your distance from the screen is greater than mine (3 metres), you may have to space them further apart to allow for the throw angle of the projected image.
should give you something to chew on over the weekend.
have another great day tomorrow....
regards from wales ... ian.

Have a hard time figuring out what views (front/front left right ??) feed the beamers with option2 If its angled on both sides the runways must look funny?

This is in fact amazing Information.
I am not stinking rich LOL, but managed to get a 6 meter screen together. i won't be able to completely fill it all, but will give it a go. I have done the same thing, and created some temporary mounts for the projectors until I get them just right. I understand what your saying, and will give it a shot.
Thanks for your patience, this whole duel projector thing is all new to me.
your Rock Ian,
