cdu lights
hi folks,
I've finally got around to assembling my cdu which comprises of the Hispanel template, Marius's pcb and hacked ps1 screen.
I have a couple of questions that some of you may be able to help me with.
First can anyone tell me what colour lights up when the MSG OFST and the Display Fail area's are active? Also, are these buttons that clear the lights when pressed?
Next question directed to anyone who has the Marius pcb, do you agree that there is no provision for installing leds for the above on the pcb.
I'm thinking that Marius has left that to us to work out for ourself.
Also looking at the template there is a hole just above the exec button with the legend BRT engraved next to it. I assume that in a real cdu this would be some sort of dimmer control for the screen. I'm thinking of putting a led there and using it as the exec warning light.
Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Nige,
Did not think they were button just wanted to be sure.
For backlighting I've just copied what Marius has done on his webpage and used EL wire.
Just got to make up a case for it all now.
cheers

Hi
You best option is the EL lighting, Juust Marius has done.
Once you box it in the effect is magic.
We found that re-wiring the dimmer on your actual PS1 screen is a good option.
I would love to see some pictures of your FMC.

Hello Paul,
With regards to installing your own LEDs. This should be no problem as long as you hold up the PCB to a bright light and double check that you are not drilling through a track. This way you can mount a couple LEDs on each side.
And yes... use the dimmer from the PS1 screen and glue some kind of knob on it that will fit through the little hole in the template.

Thanks guys,
Made up the box this afternoon and will install the rest tomorrow.
Will take some photos of the various stages of assembly and post them here soon.
Will add a couple of leds for the msg ofst and display fail areas.
I need to do some research on where the dimmer control is located on the ps1 pcb as I cannot see anything obvious.
