Boeing 747-8 launch
Boeing has launched the 747-8 that features an 11.7 ft (3.6m) extension of the 747-400 design to seat 34 additional passengers. It will have a range of 8000nm (14,815 km). A 747-8F freighter variant will be 18.3ft (5.6m) longer than the current 747-400F and have a 154 tons payload capacity, repsresenting a 16% load increase over the 747-400F. Cargolux has ordered ten 747-8F with first delivery in the third quarter of 2009. Japan's Nippon Cargo Airlines has also ordered eight.
