Why are my photos automatically being resized to less than half of the original sizes?

I've tried to upload photos at 1920x1200 and 1024x768 and all of them are being reduced to 800xXXX. Even when I click on the photo for a larger view, it's the same size and doesn't get any larger.

I don't think I had this trouble before, unless I just didn't notice it on a 19" 3:4 monitor.

I have no limitations on file size or image size or amount of bandwidth use.

Could someone explain this to me please?

Max size is 800 X600
Max file size is 1 meg

It's done to limit disk usage. Any reason you should think it should be increased, let me know. You're opinion will definitely be considered

I didn't realize that. I guess they look a lot smaller now because I use this 24" monitor. They always appeared a lot larger on the smaller monitor.

I don't want any special treatment, I just didn't think the image size was set so low.
