Re: 737 Pedestal
I would think the commercial versions are made from Aluminum (my 727 one is, not sure about the vendor units). May be more pricey, may be heavier, but will be more sturdy. You could do a combination aluminum L channel frame and then covered with 1/4" wood. I think there might be rough plans in the download area, or check out mikesflightdeck.com

Re: 737 Pedestal
1/4" MDF is way enough.
I did mine as a box, with 4 wood bars glued with regular carpenter's glue.
Totally rigid.
The pedestal panels are screwed on an aluminum frame which sits on top of the box with hinges at the front.
Easy for maintenance as the whole thing opens up like a lid if needed.
Excuse the crude drawing.

Re: 737 Pedestal
That's lookin' good Jack.
You're using a real 737-400 IRIS panel but isn't it supposed to be mounted in the aft overhead or am I mistaken ?
In the case of headshrink, it would be a good idea to ad a bottom panel to make it real solid, just because he has to move around the house with it for some reason.

Re: 737 Pedestal
That is pretty awesome Jack. That is very similar to what I had in mind.
You wouldn't by chance have a webpage dedicated to your sim build, would you?

Re: 737 Pedestal
Thanks Jack for share these pictures with us.
One more question for you .... !!!
The fire handles are custom made, ( i mean the red plates) or you bought them from a specific supplier?
I'm not sure, if this function is working with PM's s/w, so i don't think that i need the handles to working as real, but i need them to complete the pedestal's panels
thanks

Re: 737 Pedestal
This is a delco carousel INS and there used to be 3 of them, checking each other on the pedestal (747/Concorde)
No , sorry
Nope, Flightdecksolutions.
Stand is home made, check my posts here.
Custom made, they work with their own electrical circuit logic, (for test purpose only when doing the check list)Jackpilot
