Help !! CDU's USB --> USB malfunction
Hello everybody......
i need your help
I bought for FO's side, a used Engravity's CDU which i didn't manage to make it connect with any of 4 different PCs (XP & Vista)
When power up the CDU, it displays the intro info about ver (1.04) date etc, then going to stanby mode. When pressing EXEC+S i have the setup screen normal, working (i can change the values)
But....... when trying to connect via USB to any pc either i don't have any indication that is connected (no usb message, no new com port) or i have a message that this usb device has malfunction etc.....
I tryed different PCs, USB cables.
I also have another Engravity's CDU, which is working normal. I tryed to connect the 2nd one in the same pc where the 1st was working with no luck.
I emailed Engravity, but it's weekend, so i'm just wondering if anyone of you had the same issue, or has a good idea!!!!

Re: Help !! CDU's USB --> USB malfunction
Yes of course!
As i wrote, i also connected to the PC where my 1st CDU is working with no problem. But the 2nd does not.
I also installed Engravity's drivers to all other PCs i made the tests, (3with XP & 1 with Vista). No luck.....
Is there a reset method for this CDU?
Is there a way to check the USB?
Do i need an update firmware?
thanks.....Eddie Armaos

Re: Help !! CDU's USB --> USB malfunction
I still think its a matter of assigning the right COM Port...
Look through your device manager and see what COM Port numbers
are showning and then plug them into the PM CDU config.

Re: Help !! CDU's USB --> USB malfunction
Exept the Windows error message "....this USB device malfunction....." i don't have any new COM ports at device manager.
As i can understand, if there is no hawrdware problem from the electronics of CDU, (i wish not !!!), the CDU does not assign the Engravity's drivers and Windows have this device as uknown....
Thanks anyway......

Re: Help !! CDU's USB --> USB malfunction
I think it might be a hardware problem...sorry.
Some hardware don't like USB extension cables or extra long cables...?

Re: Help !! CDU's USB --> USB malfunction
hi eddie.......
may not be too much help here, but i run my CDU on a 5mtr USB2.0 repeater cable because it's a long way from the CDU to the Flightsim machine.
again, i'm battling blind here (because i only have one CDU), but won't each CDU have to communicate on a different comport, for example captains on Com 3 and F/O on Com 4?
if all else fails Engravity will be able to sort it for you fast. they turned mine round in a week when i had an issue with the connector plug.
good luck anyway and hope you manage to sort it

Re: Help !! CDU's USB --> USB malfunction
Thank you all for your posts,
i don't have a long usb cable and the 2 CDU is not connected in the same time in the same PC, with the 1st one.
I used the same USB cable and PSU from the 1st CDU, so they are working.
Anyway, I have to wait for Engravity's support........
