    Goflight Modules

Not to rain on Matt's parade. But there is another site called http://www.digital-flight.com/ which has goflight equipment 15% off all the time. Some of which is cheaper than your site, also some are more expensive. Not trying to pick sides, just giving other options. Also with digital flight there does not seem to be any issue with shortage of units. Atleast not mentioned. Like I said. I'm not choosing one over the other, just giving an option. Sorry Mat.

The issue here is the BLACK COLOR units. Goflight dioscontinued producing the black modules...... only producing gray ones now....... leaving those of us that designed a pit around that particular design look "high and dry". To be honest, I was and still am pissed off about that move on their part. I am not in a position to purchase everything that I wanted from them at one time. That they did not maintain an OPTION of the black facings is a real slap in the face to their existing customer base. BAD customer service move.

We are simply talking about painted metal faceplates here. This is not like maintaining a legacy software interface. The cost to manufacture the black ones in smaller amounts than the gray ones cannot be THAT prohibitive. What theyu are saying to theeir old customers is .... we don't care about you.

I relly like the products that they produce and I have always liked therei customer service (if you ignore trying to get support on their forums). Been an active promoter of their stuff in many places on the net. The "no more black" move has "left a bad taste in my mouth".

What I will likely end up resorting to for the last few units it painting them myself. To disassemble them and/or mask them for painting will take a lot of my precious time. A pain in the butt. And the paint that I do will not be a perfect match.

I just managed to purchase one GF-46 that is destined to be my transponder. Unfortunately, I want one more VRP-166 for the avionics stack and one PB-8 .......but I just can't afford to buy that/those along with the 46 right now. By the time I am able to do it (likely weeks if not months)..... they likely will all be gone in black.

Thanks for the heads up Matt.

    best,

    Hi John
I successfully used their Remote kits which can power any kind of panel, homemade, or real black Collins or King or whatever that you can get on EBay for around $25.
Very easy to do. Basically no more work than repainting a GF unit.

    Jack,

Yeah, I have one of their RMKs too. But when I bought that it was specifically to make something that their facings did not replicate well. I know that I can go that route, but TIME is so prescious that I hate to have to spend it on fixing something that would be SO easy for them to do.

This is as much a "principle of the matter: rant as anything.

I know that I will survive.

    best,

Don't worry John, I can bet my money you'll still be able to pick up a Goflight module from somewhere in a few months time. Whether its from a member on the forum, ebay, or a website with a lot of stock before the changeover.

You'll find one. I have 3 goflight panels but they were sprayed grey so that doesn't make anything better for you, otherwise i may have helped you out.

I didn't even know goflight were changing colour, the whole thing has come as a bit of a surprise tbh, and as like you say they haven't given an option of grey or black is beyond me. I would have expected it would be LESS work for them if someone specified they just wanted the black panels.

I don't know if anyones emailed goflight but i supposed if you asked them they could possibly make exceptional circumstances. Or even go with your idea of having an option if there was enough opposition.

My experience with Go-Flight is this: Excellent products and non-existent customer service.

They do not seem to believe in communicating with the customers. Although, in their favor, they do seem to listen. There have been times, like when FSX, came out that they were silent about new software. Then one day, out of the blue, they release an update to fix the problem.

It would be nice if they would just communicate with us lowly customers.
