Thumbs up Any Linux users here?

Im wondering if there are any Linux/X Plane users here....my PC recently piced up a virus and wiped my HD...I have backups but Im fed up with XP, so I decided to install linux and do a 180 as far as simulation is concerned.....

It would be cool to get some insight from builders using linux/xplane

I am a Linux user but do not use X-Plane. If you have any Linux questions feel free to post or PM me.

My game machine is XP with FSX but I also tinker with FlightGear on occasion. For a free, open source endeavor is is pretty amazing. It runs on most platforms, Linux, Windows, Mac, etc.

    Thanks

I may have some Linux questions some time down the road, its different in many ways..

I have been playing with Flight Gear some, for an Open Source project it offers quite a bit, Im still looking into its features to get a feel for it.

I finally got the demo working for X Plane, so far Im impressed but 6 min of joystick time isnt enough to get a complete feel for the sim... the physics seem realistic, and the default scenery isnt bad .

I have the full version on order and I cant wait

    Thanks for offering your help,
    John

X-Plane always felt like a toy to me and the planes would bounce all over the place, but a lot of people seem to like it. To each his own. Let us know how you like it.

I can tell you that Opencockpits produce a UIPC file for X-Plane as Manolo the OC developer uses X-Plane and not FS (funny enough), so you could get your hardware going in this sim if you chose. However what about Linux running FS? It does run Windows programs.
