    F-117's last flight

The F-117 "Stealth Fighter" will make its last flight on April 22 as it goes to the Tonopah Test Range Airfield in Nevada. Another one of our great aircraft gone ..... Her eis where I read it. http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/03/11/ste....ap/index.html

Well, no matter what they say, Area 51 has not been quite since they made them public and moved the squadron to New Mexico. Wonder what else flies in those dark skies? Sad, all the same.

I hope they make the F-117 Sims public so that you can get a try on that bird!

One of the iconic aircraft of the 20th century. Lets hope they look after them in storage, who knows in 30 years we may see people restoring them as old warbirds, much as they do now with WWII planes.

My guess is congress in their infinite lack of wisdom will pull a repeat of the F-14 grindering of the F-117 and use wood choppers on some really expensive aircraft.

Lots of good info on it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F-117_Nighthawk

I was very surprised to hear that this bird was being retired so soon compared to other older aircraft, but then it became more apparent why after reading thru the above article.

    Thanks,

Thanks for the link Tomlin, made a good read and certainly fills in the background on the plane.
