    Thumbs up Symulatory Update

    Hi Guys (& Gals),

Quick update on where I am with my Symulatory build:

1 - picked up the gear from Scotland (Frame, MIP, 2 x FMC inc stand, OH, TQ, MCP and Pedestal) - all looked in great condition - never been used.
2 - Unload at home and imagine it all setup
3 - Figure out how I'm going to progress with the project i.e. have a beer.
4 - Decide to get the TQ and Pedestal going first as this should be able to use standard FS
5 - Order a usb joystick axis card for the TQ - later realise that the TQ already has a controller card in the Ped - also has the servos built in - Result
6 - Download the new FSBus software and realise the config files kindly sent from Symulatory arent compatable with the new version Quick post on the Forums here and I now have the correct older version
7 - Load the FSBus software with the config file from Symulatory (each TQ built gets its own config file from them) - started FS, the Trim wheel started whirring as it reset itself, scared me to death at first, and the Ped lit up with all the correct freq showing in appropriate Nav/Comm/ADF radios...

    Issues so far:
1 - cant work out how to assign the correct axis in FS for the throttles, flaps, axis as the TQ doesnt show up as a controller, 1 throttle does move the FS throttle but the other levers look mis-mapped.
2 - Cant change the freq of the radios using the Ped encoders - the values shown on the displays are correct and change when I change them in FS but not when I rotate the dials
3 - Havent got PM yet so the auto throttle and speed brake wont work

    Impressions so far:
The stuff from Symulatory is great , minor issue in that some of the toggle covers and knobs need replacing with more accurate versions, the MIP has Boeing style knobs but the OH didnt and I would like to replace the toggle switch covers plus when I get PM I need to order the EFIS to go with the MCP.

All in all I'm very pleased with the Symulatory stuff so far, a long way to go yet but their support has been quick and once I get to grips with FSBus I hope to have the other issues sorted
    Cheers
    Mike

Hi Mike. First thing first...You need to map the axis of the TQ in FSUIPC not FS. THat will get everything working right. This is no easy task and takes a little fussing around to get it right. Have they treated you ok even thought you bought this stuff used?

    Hi Bob,

Thanks for the tip... Will maybe get chance to try that tonight.

So far they have been really good - I thought when I was buying the stuff that I would be having to do all my own IO so didnt expect to need to contact them. What it actually came with was all the Symulatory IO cards that use FSBus and they kindly sent on the .ini files although I havent received any for the OH and MCP yet (to be fair I havent asked yet either as I havent got PM), the guy I bought it from had never even used it so maybe I'm 'using up' his support time!?
Good service so far so fingers crossed for the future... I hope they will send me the missing files as I really dont fancy trying to work those out
    Cheers
    Mike

    Mike

If you have the TQ with controller and servos you should only need to fire up FSBus, advance both throttles about 3 inches, turn on Main Elec switch, move throttles to idle, start engines and off you go!

    Thumbs up Another update...

    Hi Folks,

Quick update (must get some photos done too)

I have now figured out why the throttles were acting a bit stange, mis-map in FSBus and I think I have got this figured now - the 'Autosense' button helped a lot
Now also got the inputs for the radios working, needed to connect in the FMC/CDU (even though I cant use it at the moment) and all is now working well
Going to do a couple of test flights and see how we go
    Cheers
