    A Project Magenta Question

Is it necessary to have multiple PC's to run the software? What I thought about doing was having 1 PC setup for the view with 3 17" LCD monitors and the 2nd PC have 2 15" monitors to display the PFD, ND, EICAS, and secondary EICAS.

    Your thoughts?

If your second machine is a good machine, you will be fine running 2 instances of the Glass Cockpit software ND,&PFD on one monitor and STBY&EICAS on the other. But if you want to add the FMC and PMSYSTEMS you will probably need a pc for each of those.

Also remember PM does not recommend this. In fact they do not support it. That said if the machine has enough horse power it can be done. I would think anything over 1.2gig would be enough.

Well here are my current system specs:

    Systemax Desktop Computer
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Duel Core Processor 4600+
    2.41 GHz
    2GB of Ram
    250GB Hard Drive
    80GB Hard Drive
    Windows XP Professional
    Nvidia GeForce 7600 GT 256 MB PCI-E (2 DVI)
    SoundBlaster Audigy SE Sound Card

Another computer just like this one and I'll be all set. I may even add another 512 GB of ram to this one. I'm hoping to get Triplehead2go here in the next few weeks.

But I may have an idea that I've been playing around with last night during my flight from KLAS to KMIA.

    PC 1:

3 17" monitors for the view
    Wideview installed and registered
    FSUIPC registered

    PC 2:

2 17" or 15" monitors for the PFD, ND, EICAS and lower EICAS.(See image)
    Wideview installed
    FSUIPC registered

MIP panel built to fit over the 2 17" or 15" LCD monitors. MCP will be purchased. The CDU will either be made or purchased. Overhead panel, I haven't decided what way I want to go with that. One fellow user on here has a monitor mounted above for the overhead panel and that looks like a great idea at this point, but man would I love an actual overhead panel. I'm thinking of getting the overhead panel over at Flightdeck Solutions.

Both computers will run flight simulator in window mode enabling me to position the windows on the screen. Save the flight at an airport reboot and the window positions are saved.

PM (or was it Windows?) does not support two Open GL accelerated windows on the same machine, as far as I remember.

Anyways, I have all PM elements that require video output on their own PC. And these machines do not need to be very powerful, so almost any old, used PC will do.

    Regards,
    Hans
