Re: Vishay 357 potentiometers wiring question

    Hi,
1 or 3 can be ground. Depends on which direction you turn the shaft as to the signal at 2 will increase or decrease. Usually cw the signal at 2 would increase. So when you wire it up if it goes the wrong way then reverse connections to 1 and 3.
If you are applying voltage to the pot make sure that supply voltage is not connected to the 2 pin.

Re: Vishay 357 potentiometers wiring question

    Hi,
The same goes for any pot. The two ends are ground and signal in. Or ground and dc in if you are
using the pot connected as an axis, ie for a throttle or mixture control.
Just make sure you identify the wiper when using dc in, applying voltage to the wiper and turning the pot will cause smoke to appear.
