PSU convertion for cockpit power supply

    Hi,

I am starting to convert a computer PSU to use as my power supply. I do have one question regarding that though, can I just connect the OC cards to a 5v red wire and the leds to a 12v yellow wire? What about the current coming from the PSU? Do I have to limit that at all? Or is it safe to just plug them in?

    Thanks

    Jose

Re: PSU convertion for cockpit power supply

Computer PSUs are able to adapt current to demand, when at least demand is above a minimum load. How well your PSU will work with no or minimal load in a power channel is a matter of design but the more load you put the better for the switching driver electronics, as long as it doesn't exceed the max current for the power channel (i.e. 20A for 5V, 15A for 12V there should be a label on top of it)
