Hi guys, I have a rather specific project planned that is unlike anything I've tried before and the work shown on this site suggests someone here might be able to help.
Basically I want to take ignition buttons and throttle controls (four engines) and set them up in a way that they can control the sounds of engines starting and running, while the rpm will be altered by throttle quadrant like playing in game.

However I don't want to be playing the game whilst this is happening so I need to be able to control it externally, preferrrably with just the sound files. I have been thinking of using a Raspberry Pi and a series of potentiometers and push buttons, because of the on board GPIO, availability and most of all, low price.
Is this possible? Even using other hardware would be suitable but most important I need to know if I'm wasting my time.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
