B737 NG Training Documentation
Hi all,
I'm looking for as much documentation on the B737 NG as I can find. I've started building my pit recently, but I'm trying to fit in some reading while I'm not building.
I guess the question is "where do I start"! I've been flying the PMDG B737 quite a bit recently to familiarise myself with the aircraft systems. I've also bought Mike Ray's 737 Super Guppy book, although it is specifically aimed at the B737-300. There's some good info in there on systems, however, it is the proceedures aspect that I am interested in.
Although I'm interested in any general information, I'm more specifically after info on the following:
- Flight planning
- Takeoff proceedures
- LNAV/VNAV
- Decent proceedures
- Approach proceedures (building an approach)
- CAT I, II & II approaches
- Technical stuff: Systems, FMC use, MCP etc.
Is this the kind of thing that is covered in the B737 manual (FCOM?) or is there a 'Holy Grail' kind of book/website that I should be looking at. What books/manuals would you recommend that are an 'essential' buy for any 737 pit?
Cheers,
Ed

Re: B737 NG Training Documentation
Thanks René, those sites look very useful.
How about books/manuals - anyone got any good suggestions?
I found the Navigraph Learning Centre videos to be really useful for building an approacj using their charts.

Re: B737 NG Training Documentation
The FCOM explains a lot of the procedures you are looking for, albeit without the technical why's and wherefore's.
The Smith's FMC guide is also available in the download section.
I think I'm at a similar stage to you, I've just started a 737NG build and am gathering similar information.
These caught my eye, but I'm not sure they contain anything the FCOM and Smith's guide don't...

Re: B737 NG Training Documentation
Thanks, FCOM downloaded. There's some great stuff on the SmartCockpit site too, thanks for that.
The Boeing 737 Technical Guide also looks good (on the http://www.b737.org.uk site) bit it is quite expensive for the colour version. Might have to be an xmas present from someone!
Sean> The Bill Bulfer guides also look like a must have. I came across them a couple of days ago whilst searching on the web, but forgot to bookmark them. Glad I've managed to come across them again. In the UK they seem to be quite expensive (>£45 each), so I may have to get the elsewhere.

Re: B737 NG Training Documentation
Hi,
perhaps you find this manual useful for basic introduction: "PMDG 737 YOU HAVE CONTROL", written by a real 737 pilot from Germany (Timm Rommen), available in English, too. Look at:
http://secure.simmarket.com/aerosoft...enung....phtml.
And this one: "THE BOEING 737 TECHNICAL GUIDE" by Chris Brady, a real 737 pilot, too. Look at: http://www.b737.org.uk/

Re: B737 NG Training Documentation
Free download?? Is that legal?
Anyway, if anyone is interested I will be looking to sell a copy of the Bill Bulfer cockpit companion (the version with the burgundy cover) - if anyone is interested drop me a pm and we'll sort something out...
Happy New Year
Mike
