    Re: Fs2Phidget 4.3.64

I did research the Microsoft article but no go.Also wanted to find out if you are Alan. I just read where you are not going to be doing this anymore. What a sad time for I was just getting started using phidgets and really don't understand how to use your program yet. Now that you are leaving I may never have the opportunity to build my simulator.Wish I could have had a couple of years with your help.I don't know much about you but understand your decision as this must take up a lot of your time.

    Re: Fs2Phidget 4.3.64

    ??,

This post is entitled 4.3.64, and we have established that you are attempting to install version 5, which is not version you wanted, and had problems with that. Have we got to point where you have downloaded 4.3 and attempted an install?

Alan has a peeve about people not having courtesy of introducing themselves with at least their first name, but still expecting the same. I will extend that courtesy to you.

    Regards,
    Alan

    Re: Fs2Phidget 4.3.64

Wow sure am sorry about not leaving my name it's Johnny just like it's listed as my user name without the G.Hope I didn't offend you by not doing this.I guess I didn't see at the bottom where everyone leaves there name.I tried to load both 4.3.64 and 5.0.21
they both have different problems.I read somewhere it seems that 4.3.64 was the newest file newer than 5.0.21.If you read the first post you would understand why this post was called Fs2Phidget 4.3.64.I guess I need to be really careful to be specific about everything I post sorry.

    Regards,
    Johnny G.

Sure thats what got this all started in the first place. If you look at the very first post you will see what the problem was with the screenshots explaining it.

    Re: Fs2Phidget 4.3.64

I was able to replicate problem on my XP system.
    Did some research at Microsoft.com
When the Setup program installs the setup package, the Setup program compares the version of the file that is already on your operating system with the version of the file that is included in the setup package. If the file that is included in the setup package is newer than the file that is already on your operating system, the Setup program replaces the version of the file that is on your operating system and then prompts you with the message that the Setup program must restart the computer.

After the file is replaced, the Windows File Protection feature detects that the file has been replaced and then reverts the file back to the original version. After the Setup program reboots and then runs Setup.exe again, the cycle repeats.

I have been using same build for many years. I installed Visual Basic 2010 Express very recently and this updated some of my system files.

There are 3 ways we can fix:
    (1) Wait for me to revert to original files and update install package.
Take me another day or so.

    (2) if you are in a hurry, delete the following system files on your system and use current install package. Back-up following files first!
    • OLEPRO32.dll
    • OLEAUT32.dll
    • ASYCFILT.dll
    • STDOLE2.tlb
    • MSVBVM60.dll

    (3) Disable Windows File Protection. We're not going to do that!!!

    Regards,
    Alan
