Toying with the thought of going to the show this year but how difficult/easy is it to get from a central Amsterdam Hotel to Lelystad without using a taxi for the complete journey?

By train from Amsterdam Central Station (platform 11b) to Lelystad Centrum. From there Bus 148(Connexxion) with destination Harderwijk; get of at airport (stop: Eendenweg Lelystad). Takes 1 hr 15 min. Costs train € 8,90; bus 1,78 (you need an OV-chipcard for bus).

Re: FSWeekend 2011 [4-5 November, Lelystad]

Thank you JWS. Just a further question please. As I intend bringing my wife along would there be enough of interest to base ourselves in Lelystad for the weekend? I see the Airport Hotel is already fully booked.

    Hi Bill,
I don't think you should let your wife hanging around in Lelystad for the weekend. It is (imho) not a very interesting town (a 'sleep town' as we say in Dutch), you better be based in Amsterdam.

The only thing that is particular is that Lelystad is only about 50 years old. Before that that place was a Lake...

    Regards,
    Nico

    See regional tourist information http://www.ookflevoland.nl/en

But not a very interesting town itself. Better to stay in Amsterdam.

We should have the ladies that are not interested in FS (like mine) do something together. Whether it is going to Amsterdam or another place close by perhaps suggested by the local members.

Efe, pls add me to your list.
Looking forward to see all of you, some of you again. Very excited to discuss all sorts of building techniques.
