MD80 Project update
It's been a while since I posted in this forum. I just briefly introduced my MD80 project earlier. Now I it's soon one year since I got the DC-9 cockpit shell. Which sort of marks the beginning of this project. I have tried to build sims earlier but with less success then now. Things are slowly getting more interessting I think also more to see picture wise. But still alot of work to do though. My primary target is to get the pilot side "flyable". Means all main instruments should work, it must be possible to startup from cold and dark to take off without the usage of mouse and keyboard. All control handles must work (yokes, throttle, rudderpedals etc..). So far most of the overhead panel works except for the gauges. Much of the throttle console also works. That includes flaps leveler, both thrust handles individual, the thrust reverse handles, the spoiler handle, the fuel cut handles and the gearhorn button. I probably forgot some of the functionalities.
The newest items that work are the PFD, ND and VSI/TCAS displays on the pilotes side. I'm still working to get the electromechanical instruments to work. The AIS and ALT should be the first to be complete. Hopefully soon.
Once the primary goal is reached I will start to work on details such as the roof covers, sidepanels. The visual is by the way also one of the primary goals. I will try to make a mirror collimated visual or at least something close to it.
Above is a picture of the simulators current stand.
Kind Regards,
Gery

Re: MD80 Project update
Hi Gery
I think you have come a long way at this time. It takes time to build, we are not so many who make the MD-80 / DC-9 cockpit. so often we have to invent things from scratch.
I look forward to seeing the finished result, special for your collimated visual.
Keep up the good work.Sincerely,
Claus

Re: MD80 Project update
Just made the first "flight" with the original MD80 yokes. Feels really great, no comparing to using a joystick.
Will try to make a video next weekend.

Hi Gery
It's nice to see it go forward.
Have you not yet figured out how much force is used as force feedback.
I still ask around to find one that can provide me with this force feedback data. So far no luck.
Love to see a videoSincerely,
Claus

Re: MD80 Project update
Thatīs correct, I still don't have that data. Seames to be the maddog's most secret information
But I have my doubts that I will get the force 100% correct any way. But will try to get as close as possible.
