Toulouse, 7th July 2006 - The Airbus Shareholder Committee has confirmed Christian Streiff as Airbus President and Chief Executive Officer. This follows his nomination to the position on 2nd July 2006. The Airbus Shareholder Committee comprises representatives of the Airbus shareholders, EADS and BAE Systems.

Prior to his appointment at Airbus, Christian Streiff was Deputy CEO of Saint-Gobain Group, a position he held until 2005.

Christian Streiff was born in Sarrebourg, France, in September 1954. A Civil Engineering Graduate of the Ecole des Mines in Paris, he joined the Saint-Gobain Group in 1979, holding several positions in manufacturing and as corporate planning manager. In 1988, he was appointed General Manager of Gevetex GmbH, and in 1991 he became General Manager of Vetrerie Italaine Spa in Italy, before being promoted to Chief Executive Officer of Saint-Gobain Emballage in 1994. At the beginning of 1997, he was named President of the Pipe Division and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Pont-a-Mousson SA.

From 2001 till 2003, Mr Streiff has carried out functions as Senior Vice President of the Saint-Gobain Group and President of the Abrasives and Ceramics & Plastics Division (formerly Norton), a very international US-based division, before being named Deputy CEO of Saint Gobain.

Christian Streiff is a supervisory board member of the German companies Thyssen-Krupp AG and Continental AG as well as of Prysmian SpA (Italy).

Christian Streiff has worked in the manufacturing sector with the diversified multinational Saint-Gobain Group since 1979, serving the company for 26 years. During this time he has had management experience in many different countries, including placements in Germany, where he spend in total ten years of his career, in Italy and the US, as well as France. These positions brought him into close contact with a variety of businesses, dealing – amongst others - with automotive supplies, composites, packaging, pipelines, abrasives, ceramics and high performance plastics.

Fluently speaking French, English, German and Italian, Christian is married with three children. In his free time, he enjoys trekking and diving, and was a passionate private pilot. He also takes pleasure in writing, including a novel published in 1999 about the experience of an industrial company in post-reunified Germany.
