    747 Shell

    Morning all!

Ready to start constructing my shell and plan to use steel box section for the frame but am struggling to figure out accurate dimensions.

I downloaded some cad software to view the stl files in the download library but the measurements I am getting dont seem to be right (Ive made sure its not inches!)

I've attached a screenshot of what I'm getting (using free trial of minimagics)

Can anyone suggest where I'm going wrong?

I have the steel and cant wait to start cutting/welding!

yeah that does seem a little strange, I noticed the width at the rear of the flight deck is 1317mm, the dimensions I have say that the width is 3,399mm but im a little puzzled by this, I also have the same 3d file you have if its the same one drawn by Phil Lambert? but im sure 1317mm is no where near the right size. I think your idea of box section is great im doing the same but im not sure how to get the radius's as the drawings I have dont say.

    Re: 747 Shell

Thanks Jake, the measurement you have is correct.

I'm using the same file from Phil744. What software are you using to view and measure?

Getting the curves right shouldnt be too difficult, it will be a case of forming a piece of box section to the correct width all the way round underneath the windows, same for the floor then filling in from top to bottom using several "points" from the floor up - easy right?!!!
