737 Windows - with or without (plexi)glass
Has anybody "closed" his cockpit by installing (plexi)glass in the windows ?
I was thinking of doing this with the front windows so as to create more realistic outside view and some "atmosphere" in the cockpit.
What would be the best material to use ?
Kind regards
Tony

Windows certainly improve the flight simulation experience in my opinion.
Use 1/4"(6mm) clear acrylic plastic and cut it with a band saw using a metal cutting blade.

Thanks Joe.
I'll pay a visit to the local doityourself market and see what they have to offer.
Happy landings

Thats right Mike
I used an acrylic sheet called 'Glodex' which can be bought at most DIY stores,Its fairly easy to cut with a jigsaw and a fine blade if you sandwich it between 2 bits of MDF.
The eyebrow window trims are made from wire mesh and newsspaper soaked in wallpaper paste, dried in the airing cupboard then painted with flecked paint followed by a coat of gloss grey enamel.
Having the reflections in the windows really add to the feeling of being enclosed

Same here, I put in thin plexi-glass windows and the experience is fantastic.
I recommend it
