LMAO.... slashing cost 20%. They mean increase profits 20%, if not more, if they increase passenger load by 50%. LOL. I can't imagine NTSB and FAA will approve that.

Has anybody sat in a observer seat in a Level D sim, while moving.... WOW, what a ride... LOL. I wouldn't want to do that on long flights or even short flights.

Just my most humble opinion..... LOL

    Re: Standing Room Only tickets?

I thought Ryanairs game was to carry small amounts of passengers on small small fleet aircraft such as the 737 and do this often rather than lots and less often. I mean the increased passenger volume means more people on the plane and each passenger has to being their own luggage adding more weight. For one, is this exceeding the aircrafts max weight, and number two with increasing fuel prices will it actually work.

I think it won't make much difference and make passengers much more restless, uncomfortable, and annoyed. I mean what happens when it comes to the inflight meal? .. sat on a 'bar stool' LOL

That man is barmy. ROFL. Reminds me of Japenese trains, packing people in to bursting.

I can't imagine a bar stool with a seatbelt taking less room than the seats in 'economy' class .

    Re: Standing Room Only tickets?

And in the news today ryanair introduces there new business class cabin on all there new fleet........

Thinking out aloud here but in theory you cant stand as many people abreast as you can when seated because of the contour of the fuselage, so will they charge more for headroom as well as legroom, the mind ponders....

LOL Phil, that picture actually conveys the fact the passengers have plenty of room. I think O'leary is applying this idea to his fleet ...

    Re: Standing Room Only tickets?

How can you take anything seriously that O'Leary says!

First it was coin operated turnstyles on entry of the aircraft,

    Next it was Fat Tax,

Then it was coin operated loo's,

Then it is standing seats (with free travel for flights under 1.5 hours so said),

And how many of them have been successful......so far....NONE!

I read a book by Siobhan Creaton about the story of Ryanair from day one, and believe me O'Leary is a joker and always will be, so I take nothing seriously that he says!

    Re: Standing Room Only tickets?

I believe that a lot of these Ryan Air stories are given to the papers to generate public interest in the airline.

I also have it on good authority that Ryan Air have questionable maintenance practices that constantly get the attention of the EASA and CAA (while not breaking the law), as such the company I work for refuses to tender contracts with them (even after we were invited to!).

One story told to me by my manager is that Ryan Air were breaking into offices at an airport, setting up the desks and phones and operating there for months. When the airport found out that they were not paying for office space they were turfed out, only to setup in another area of the terminal. All this was simply to avoid paying the airport rent for the facilities they were using. Eventually the Airport stopped servicing their flights over unpaid rents and fees. I will not disclose the name of the Airport here, after all the situation has since been resolved, lets just say it was one of the major airports in the UK.

    Tom.
