    PFD/ND/CDU on same computer

    Has anyone used that setting:
    Client 1 :PFD/ND +CDU (with hardware)
    client2: Engine DU
    Server:FS9/ MCP

Is there a risk that when using the CDU, only the CDU screen and keys would be active and the client1 keyboard inactive as the PFD/ND window would not be active either because of XP multi screen limitations ??
(Read it twice, not sure I am clearly asking the question..)

On the aviodrome show we have both captains and F/O glass and cdu's running on one computer without a problem.

EDIT: just realized that our cdu's work differently talking directly to pm and not through keyboard interface. Different situation. Sorry.

Not quite the same setup, but I did have the RCDU (via the video output on the card and extended desktop) & the first officer PFD/ND on one PC. I did have a lot of grief getting the RCDU display positioned properly, but aside from that, no real problem.

I did not need to access the keyboard for the PC as I used VNC viewer to access that PC. It is a bit awkward at first to work that way, but after the displays are setup, there is not much need to touch the PC except when loading software updates and that can easily be done via VNC.

Not sure if I fully answered your question, but I think that "Client 1 :PFD/ND +CDU (with hardware)" is totally possible.

Same for the FDS Unit...I just tried it and it works fine.
The CDU keyboard is active and the computer keyboard drives the PFD/ND. All on one computer.

    Maurice:
I need that because I use hacked joystick buttons for functions like Dimming, Individual Avionics switch, TCAS on/off, Terrain color/size, Radar sweep etc which are not
    activated by the EFIS buttons.

Don't understand what you are saying here Jack. You say 'I just tried it & it works fine' Does that mean that you no longer have a question?

And as far as the other functions you mentioned, some (all?) of them like dimming, Avionics, TCAS on/off, Radar sweep... are available from the CDU itself or from the EFIS buttons. So still do not understand your question
Terrain color/size I believe is only available by keyboard commands or from the pfd.ini file.

    Hi Mau,
    Yes , I tried..and it works.
CDU hardware works with its own keys and the PFD/ND computer keyboard commands work too, simultaneously.
I was afraid it could be one at a time.

As far as the the dimming, avionics, TCAS, radar sweep, terrain otions, etc are concerned, none of these are on the EFIS buttons and it will be more fun to have them on the pedestal with these panels (see attached) than fiddling with the CDU little keys, as I find that the CDU tends to take an overwhelming role...I like toggles! (lol)

I always knew you had a lazy streak in you . Don't you think though that it looks more professional when you can bamboozle & impress visitors by flicking lots of buttons instead of just toggling one switch? I know I would be impressed.

    Nice panels though.
