EDIT: Where is this post going?, this is getting funny now! Half the world giggling at a hole in the monitor question, would make a classic youtube video 'AlexPilots Guide To Cutting LCD Monitors For FS2004'

As funny as this is, I know what you had in mind and it will not work. For a couple of reasons, but mostly because you have to use special laser/diamond saws to make the cut. I dont price them but I've heard the saw costs around $50,000. If you can afford that, then just buy small screens and mount them around your yoke. Actually if you can afford that, How about hiring me to build you a nice sim....

Another option is to Go the SimKits route.

And by the way... Last time I metered a CRT screen it was holding around 30,000 volts at about 2000 miliamps. Not a place to drill.....

The question was not stupid, just un-imformed and Waaaaaaay off the wall. Keep them coming!

I was one of those stupid people not asking this question. Good stupid question Alex.

About drilling the CRT, the CRT has a vacuum inside, so it will implode. That is probably something you leave for the Brainiacs team on the Discovery channel. They will probably put it in a caravan and blow it up while drilling the hole.

Yeah, looks like im going to have to put a simkit usb guage next to the yoke and then mount soft guages ontop of the yoke via the lcd, but it will just bug me knowing i have 1 simkit guages instead of 9 simkit gauges, then knowing me id want the engine gauges too!

Then use a floor mount yoke like the Otter has. Opens up your panel quite nicely.

I agree, but the plane itself simply cant be beat. Its one of the toughest built aircraft in the world. And the new ones coming out have glass panels with the full Honeywell suite.
