Calling all Aussies who have painted the Engravity knobs

    Hi Guys

I've just ordered 10 of the unpainted Boeing Knobs from Fly Engravity
and wondering how you have painted them.
What brand of paint and colour did you use?
I'm wondering if something like Testors model paints would be any good or is there some other easy to find paint here in Aust.
Also any tips on doing a good job on the black stripe?

    cheers

    Paul

    Hi Paul,
I painted mine with a spray can of Galmet white gloss enamel from Bunnings and they came out great. I first tried Tamiya modellers paint but it wouldn't stick. Galmet is zinc based and stuck really well, it sticks to aluminium good too. I cut the stripes out of black insulation tape with a sharp Stanley trimmer and a steel rule. Very easy and effective, they still look new a year on. I have only ever seen the stripes accidently pushed out of place once and they were easily pushed back into place. I drilled and tapped the back of the knob where there was plenty of material to support the grub screw.

    Thanks Gwyn,

I'll go down to Bunnings and have a look for it.
Your photos of the knobs look great.
