My experience has been that my framerate dropped 10fps for every panel I open and drag onto a monitor. This is on a Pentium D 3.4GHz with Nvidea 7900Gs (PCI-E) and FX5200 (PCI). I'm also using a Matrox TripleHead2Go and I have 5 monitors so far.
How well this works for you will also depend on how powerful your computer system is...... but no matter what you have it will take a hit so be cautious before wasting money on 3 PCI video cards.

Henry

Well, if I get a quad core processor, 4gb of ram, a 8800gt to run my fs, and some cruddy graphics cards to run 6 monitors... how much can I loose?
Figure, if I use the machine with FS only... I would get maybe 90 fps. Divide that by 70 fps... and im getting 20 fps. It sounds like that may work? Pack everything into a supercomputer.767 Builder

That is not what I experience, but I can't argue with what you got. Of course, I got a crappy computer and video cards too.
Hey Lezam, just try it and see... be interesting to see if you could get 8 monitors going on the one computer with acceptable framerates. Let us know.

Henry

Well , just to encourage you,
In my previous setup i had Tripple2go conncted to geforce 7950 with addition of 3 cheap Ati pci card [with 8 M mem]for undocked panels display
So total7 screens
Now i removed one of them , just becouse i builded hardware overhead and dont need this one anymore-- so still 6 left
Fps was and still is good even with sliders maxed with Fs9
For outside view--only the Tripple2go connected to one of Geforce
outputs
Anyway thats not a waist of the money
Enjoy

this is very interesting thread.
I don't want to highjeck this thead. But I have to ask!
I have an old GForce Ti 4200 128 ram in my closet collecting dust. My Primery is GForce 6800 GS 256 ram.
Are you guys saying that I can put my old card in my computer and use it for what ever I want? Do I install 2 separate sets of drivers?
Thanks Mike

Hi again
I can email you some pics as attacment
Now about magenta---anywhere you are not using Open gl--like Eicas , Fms ,no prob to use the additional pci cards on the same comp
With all kind of undocked 2d panels and gauges even simple and cheap pci cards works great
As to Pm Nd and Pfd you may suffer bad perfomance becouse open gl
Alsow i would like to mention i have the Xp pro and never tryed to do that with Vista as simple dont own that
Another point: you have to check-drivers availabilty for your OS regarding the adapter you purchassing
Some older cards may not have updated drivers for new Os
You may consider even dualhead PCI card
Win2000 drivers usualy works with XP
Mike , as long there are drivers for your Pci card supporting your current OS and available Pci slot on yur comp--no probs
Regards guys
