    Mounting Roberto's Yokes

Hi All and Merry Christmas from Western Australia,

Yesterday I commenced making new columns for the fantastic yokes supplied by Roberto, (Dodiano). I realise this maybe beyond the scope of non machinists but I thought I would share the building process anyway. First pics.....

I'm here too ! ....... but I have an excuse - acute insomnia for 4 days and night, caused by some medication!

    Anyhoo...........

    Merry Christmas !!

Gwyn - fab work. Have you looked into commercial support for mass distribution of your bits ? ...... I'm sure there'd be interest, given the quality and strong designs you have. I really wish you luck - hopefully order book saturation won't prevent us all placing orders and having your great bits in our pits! I would certainly be interested in a A320 Throttle Quad, once your order book has freed up a bit

Hi guys and thanks for the +ve comments.

Matt, I've never been able to post big pics in the thread, Trevor tried to help me but we had no success. I will email my pics to you and you can weave your magic wand at them!

Roberto, the mounting area of the yoke is little difficult to work with as the fibreglass is quite thin. Is it possible to manufacture them with a timber ring installed at the back of the flange area to build up the thickness a little. I can see some builders are possibly going to have problems finding a way to mount them. I had to cut off the protruding section on the back of the yoke in order to have two flat surfaces to work with. I overcame this problem by glueing some thick waste plastic to the inside of the handle to reinforce the flange mount area. I drilled and tapped these reinforcements after the glue had set to take the four 3/16" bolts. Just a suggestion, I don't know what you had in mind as an idea for mounting them.

David, I have been selling parts for quite a while now although not officially open for business, I'm reconsidering this as the requests for parts are already overwhelming. I have a partner in Queensland who is exploring the possibility of professional commercial production of my A320 TQ design. We are just in the final stages of designing the backlighting panels and hope to finish the prototype soon.

These column head assemblies can be made reasonably quickly and I might produce sets these if anybody wants them, they would be priced about US$280 a pair + postage. I use cut down tees instead of elbows as access to the cable drive pulley is essential for aligning the two yokes in final assembly. The cut off section will have removeable plates attached later.
