    Wink How's it go'in Ah!

    Hello All:

I am (of course) new to this site, and I must say it is nice to find out that there is an active cockpit building community out there that one can turn to and learn from. I have become so increasing interested in building my own cockpit lately that I tend to spend more time researching information than I do flying online these days.

Just a bit of background: I started playing FS9 less than 2 years ago and became so hooked on it that I started working on my PPL for real. I have about 35 hours clocked so far and I am ready for solo... (at least that is what my instructors says, who is 23 years old and 26 years my junior) You are never too old to learn how to fly!

Not sure where to start as far as what type to build, single engine GA or the Full Monty so to speak (A320). I am learning to fly smaller craft, so may I should think BIG for the home! However like most things, I will likely have to start on a modest budget that the CFO (wife) approves!

There seems to be so many approaches to doing things. From purchasing all the components essentially ready made and assembling to making everything from scratch (sweat and solder). I am kind of interested in making some components but not sure how involved it could get... Thoughts?

Anyway for those who may wonder... (I be Canadian)

    Welcome to Mycockpit.org Rick.

Great to have another northerner in here. The Auzzies are beginning to take over, and I think we need to get some more Northern Ontarians to build pits.

I look forward to seeing some pictures of your setup.

Please feel free to post in the gallery, and I am eager to see you take part in our community.

    Best regards,

Hey Rick and welcome to the zoo. First and for most is decide on the aircraft you want to build. Take your time on this 1 major decision! I can not stress how important this is. If you make a wrong decision here it will destroy your enjoyment of this hobby. Sounds funny I know but you must be sure of the aircraft! Once that is done then you can start thinking about how deep you want to fall into the bottomless pit of this hobby.

    Thanks for the welcome

    Thanks for the Welcome.

Whether one is "Down Under" or "Up Over" its all the same from the equator!

You make a very good point, Bob. I really do have to decide what I want to build before venturing too far along the path. I am kind of partial to the old Dash 8 Q300, but also like the idea of an A320. Guess I have some thinking and planning to do.

Looking at all the fine work people have done, I do find it all a bit intimidating at this point. Oh well one step at a time.
