PM: Removing FS panel and autopilot
Hi all,
Can anyone help me with some basic tips on how to remove the panel from a FS aircraft, and also to disable the autopilot.
I have just bought WideFS this evening so that I can test the P/Magenta demo to it's full potential - across networked PCs.
But last time I tried the PM 737 demo, I could not get the MCP to take control of the autopilot within FS. I was using PMDG737 so I believe there was a conflict with APs.
As above, would also like to know how to remove FS panels in general - if I were to go down the PM route. Do I just delete the panel's bmp in the 'Panel' folder ?
As always, many thanks for the pointers!

Try This
Remove VC panel file from your .cfg file for that aircraft (back it up first), or if in 2d mode, press "W" once or twice. I can't help you with PM though.

This should give the main info for doing this.

Thanks Gents.
Brian - that NOTAM refers to FSX but I am using FS9, however what I did note from it is that apparantly, if using PM, you can actually delete everything from your FS aircraft Panel.cfg except the [VIEWS] entry.
So this answers both of my original questions and this is what I'll try this evening.
Thanks for the pointers,

re-name the entire panel file.
do not go near pmdg when using pm. you can use it ...of course if ya want but funny things happen. no need for pmdg now anyway. install a pmdg model in the cdu flight model. also use a pmdg air file.
All that, is done within the default 737-400 file.
dont forget to tweak the engine start percentages if you need to, but i think pm sys is ok for that now. only do it if the engines wont start when using the pmdg air file....from memory.

Hi, thanks for that Ares.
I'm only demo'ing at this stage but if I did go with PM, I definately would not be using the PMDG 737 flight model. The PMDG is a great add-on and has many great great features but it's flight model (.air and .cfg) is definately not one of them!
With PM providing all the Glass, MCP and CDU, I expect I will use one of the brilliant Kittyhawk NG models.
I am dying to try out PM with my newly acquired CP Flight hardware MCP.... that will be the next thing I will be scratching my head trying to figure out!
I've printed the entire PM manual out today, (and have already read it 2 or 3 times) so that should hopefully get me sorted.
Thanks,David R

Hey!
You're from Canada and you thought Jesmond was cold ?!?.... you mustn't be in the parts of Canada I've been to
.
Yes I am from Newcastle originally and I know Jesmond very well - I used to frequent the fine bars on Osborne Road, before it all became a bit too elitist up there and you needed to remortgage your home to buy a drink!
Well - today I used the .air file from the Kittyhawk 737-800, with the PMDG 738 and I got really fab results !! Flys so much better now!.
I simply placed the .air file into the PMDG 737-800 folder, then amended the "sim" entry in the aircraft.cfg.
This is definately the way to go when using the PMDG, of in a PM setting, this is the air file I would use for the NG.
