    Anyone here know about repaints?

    Hi all

I have read before that repainting the default aircraft is a hard and nearly impossible thing to do in regards to changing it very much from the basic liveries.

Does anyone have any idea as to why this is? I would love to repaint the Learjet 45, but I want to know why it's considered so hard to repaint default a/c.

    Thanks,

Repainting default ACs is not more difficult than painting other aircrafts. The only thing that can cause some headache: find a good paintkit.
Addons like PMDG737, POSKY737, CitationX have great kits for Photoshop, you have several layers for dirt, fuselage (including screws etc.) and the painting. IIRC for default aircrafts there are some kits, but you have to find out which one is best.

    Cheers

Thanks Yoshi, I understand now. I have found a download on Avsim w/a paintkit. I will look into it.

I'm wondering why you want to paint livery when you're building a cockpit! For replays?

Yeah, pretty much. I like the default one, especially the FSX version, but I would like to see a nice private livery too. Mainly for producing a video for an upcoming event that will combine in cockpit video and external video from outside the aircraft. It's just one of those things. Same reason too I guess since so many people who build their own pits use a livery of the airline they like to emulate, such as Qantas for Matt Sheil, etc.

Fair enough, mine's a Virgin Blue! I once painted the Dreamfleet 737 in the colours of my own flying school which came out great, that was with the Dreamfleet Text-o-matic. Very time consuming
