CNC Gear Machining
Hi all,
I had my first go at cutting gears with the new CNC machine and here is the result! I needed a 3 to 1 ratio to make a throttle lever that moves 90 degress turn a pot 270 degrees. The big gear is 75mm diameter and the smaller one is 25mm diameter. It works fine but I think I'll use more teeth in the production TQs. The gear cutting software is fantastic, these took about 30 minutes to make. I may aswel add them to the product list so if anyone needs gears!!!

Re: CNC Gear Machining
Nice work Gwyn. I bought a new router for my CNC today and hope to have it turning and burning in the next couple of weeks. Its just that "learning the new software" thing that gets in the way of all the fun.
What size bit did you use for those? and where did you buy them? I had a look in Bunnings and the smallest they had was 3mmLast edited by Westozy; 12-05-2009 at 03:56 AM.

Re: CNC Gear Machining
Hi Dave,
I cut these gears out with a 1.5mm endmill. You can get cheap cutters here - check out http://www.virtual-village.com.au/cnc-bits They take about two weeks to arrive after ordering and are pretty good quality.
I bought the software from here, it's great $AUD86.00 - http://www.realhamradio.com/gearhome.htm

Re: CNC Gear Machining
Hi Gwyn,
Those look great. If you are currently selling them, how much would they cost? I need some sets for my throttles (2), flaps and speedbrakes.
