CDU, VISTA 64 and FSPLANS, FSPATH...Help!
I checked the other two threads concerning Vista and PM CDU. I'm having the problem with PMfile Check finding FSPLANS and the main FSX location (FS PATH).
I set the shares in Vista for Everyone for C:\Users\john\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files (FSPLANS-share name FSPLANS) and D:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\MSFSFSX (FS PATH-share name MSFS), I changed the security, and I even figured how to share the root drives. Still PMfile Check cannot locate these.
I had been running CDU on WIN98 for years and I've had no problems (this is before upgrading FSX computer to Vista64), so I installed WindowsXP Pro on the CDU computer and it can see the root drives of the Vista machine, but PMfile check still not seeing it.
I just updated all the machines to latest builds of FSUIPC 4.50/WideServer 7 and Wide Client 6.78. Also, I'm current on PM GC 462, MCP 436 and CDU 402. Yet, this problem with Vista continues.
Does anyone have any ideas and what do you know of PM CDU 401 and the CDUvista.exe file, was that included and what does it do (PM site has no info other than it was included in 401)?
Thanks

Same domain name or workgroup name on those computers ?
Same network protocols ?
Check carefully.

All on same Network & still a problem
Dirk, thanks for the tip and I just verified the settings on all machines and they're set to WORKGROUP.
The Client machines can all access the shares and they show up as I shared them...for example, I shared the root of the C and D drives on the FSX machine and I can get to any file within those areas from the CDU machine. Also, I even just made shares for the FSPLANS and FSPATH, and they are easily accessible.
However, does anyone know why Vista 64 appends the entries of all Uppercase letters in the share names to all lower case? According to PM instructions, it should be all caps for FSPLANS, so I think this might be the issue.
The PMfile Check lists shows that it can find the FSX folder on the D drive, but it still reports fail and that I need to set it...
Anyone else come accross this yet?
Thanks again,
John
