Buddym have you cut the throttal handel with the cnc???
and what have you used for the rod that holds them??

genrally speaking i think that the throttals on what ever cockpit you whant to build
i would say it is the hardes thing to do!!!!!!

yes, these were cut on the cnc, but from hand-drawn files. the next set are going to cut using re-drawn files so they will be better. I think the throttle is hard because we can't see the parts...we will get it though. I like seeing all of the interest in the A320 lately... for a while there I thought Nigel and I were the only guys currently building the A320. If I can get gears cutting properly I think I will cut the next set with the gear to drive the pot as part of the lever itself. No since attaching a second piece if I don't have to.

I used a 1 inch dowel rod to hold the levers in place during testing. I may end up changing the reverse lever to electrical instead of mechanical. Does anyone know how the real one works as far as what action from the reverse thrust lever is triggered? Right now I have a mechanical linkage that raises a metal pin past a slot that is located at the right spot for the throttle lever stop at 0% power. When the throttle lever is pulled back the pin hits the stop, unless the reverser is pulled, then the pin is raised and the lever can move past the stop to activate reverse thrust.

That's great! I tell ya, there are some generous folks out there that spend the time to do things like that. Those Google Skecthups on the French site are amazing too. I also have someplace a 3-d A320 sim cockpit done in sketchup. You can walk around it, behind it, above it, hide pieces, it's great.

Spiro, Alex, everyone...


The EFIS and CFU panels are cutting right now.... With a little luck there will be no glitches and all will be good. I will be out of town Friday - Monday, but hope to attack the throttle project with full attention next week. If we can get a decent attempt at the housing body (not the top covering) and the levers I think we will be getting close. Did anyone have any info regarding my earlier question on reverse thrust operation? That is, on retail throttle units is the stop for reverse thrust bypassed by mechanical or electrical methods? My previous attempts were mechanical (see other comments) but I am open to using a solenoid or servo to enable passing a stop so thrust reverse can be engaged.

Hi gang,

Any progress on your sims this weekend? I didn't get much done, had to clean and paint the garage... ack! Still working on throttle parts and glare panels... all the little hardware pieces for assembly had to be found..... I went to Orlando to an electronics surplus shop called Skycraft and bought stuff. If you like close enough to go there they have great prices on nuts, bolts, screws, wire, etc.. resistors, caps, on and on.
