Oi!! hehehe
It is true, the first mistake i ever made when producing panels was to try and get the color matched perfectly, I remembered when i got my first genuine 767 part, i copied it, i could not tell the difference, i got another genuine boeing bit, different colour again, you just end up chacing your own tail, now im doing a few 777 bits that is a completly different color!! arghhhh!!!
Airbus is a little better, there are less panel produces for the real aircraft, Vibrachoc, sirio and a few honeywell bits and i think thats it, boeing have 14 or so different panels produced by different companys, hence the bigger difference, also with airbus MIP and other parts are masterbatched plastic not paint.
Also keep in mind the base coat you are using, you may think your paint is matched perfectly until you paint it on somthing black then it appears different.
So dont get hung up on the perfect paint mach, personally i think paint texture is just as important as colour, if you think your paint is a 95% match, its good enough for the real aircraft

Totally agree!.. in fact, the panels seem to get more realistic the more you mess up with them, offering a not so gentle approach ..(real chips off....dirt stains.... ) and..as painfull as it may sounds..in a very real approach, they DO like the "rough treatment" !..so..feel free to mess things up..
And indeed the texture is very important, im almost getting insane trying to recriate the "orange skin" type of coating that you find on airbus MIP's.... i used silica poweder, different brushes, sand..........................................................etc...etc...etc... it looks good...but not all that good..(i guess it never will...).. im trying now oil based smi-gloss paint with a simple soft brush...and its working pretty good i think..
Any ideas?...
Cheers Phil

The Airbus MIP is a tricky part in regards to texture, it looks to me to be a MT-11100 spark erode finish, have you tried applying the paint using a sponge and "dabbing it", that should get close
