Opencockpits USB LCD Issue

Hi guys,

i have received today my USB LCD Card from openeockpits.
I have wired up a 20x4 LCD Display, when i plug the card via USB in the display will show up and shows me on each 4 lines and 20 blocks, black blocks.
So the display is fine.
I configured it via IOClcd_config.exe and saved my file. The display was configured in the first step with static text.
Than started IOClcd.exe and the display is still showing black blocks. also when i run sioc, the same, black blocks.
I tried it with the settings from Niko http://www.lekseecon.nl/iocards.html#USBLCD --> same thing, black blocks.

I dont have any idea anymore....

Please help to get this display running.

Hi Markus,
Try adjusting your contrast control.Your ini file looks ok.You dont need to run SIOC to test that the LCD module will display your characters.As soon as you run IOLCD.exe your display sould show what you have written.Try also display numbers 0 thru 3.You may be writting to a display you havnt got connected.Let us know how you go.We will get you up and running.Good Luck

I think the display is defect. I have tried it now with FSLCD, but it was either not working.
I have already 2 displays via FSLCD up and running and they work.
I will try another display and keep you updated.

I have just noticed that the LCD has a KS0066 controller, not the HD47780.
I have searched, but they should be the same controller type.
This is the datasheet:

I have uploaded a picture in the attachment.
So it looks like after rewiring and connected to the usb card. all lines black.
Is it really dead? Can somebody confirm this, than i will buy a new one next week.

Hi Marcus,
Ive looked on O/C site and someone has used Conrad 181657 20x4 ANG which uses a KS0066 so it should be ok.Just make sure you have only wired ONE of pins 27,28,29,30 to PIN 6 of your LCD module.Ive had someone connect all 4 pins(27,28,29,30) to pin 6.Hope this helps.

Hi Les,

i have only connected 1 Pin (Pin 29 from the 40 pin cable) to Pin 6 from my display.
I found on ebay a new lcd module (http://cgi.ebay.de/LCD-Display-HD447...item27af1151b6)
I think I will buy it, its not so expensive.

Can you please try the following: plug your USB LCD Card to the pc and look how many lines get black. I would guess 2 of them, the first and the third, or?

i have some spare ones similar to what you are after DE-LM005(Google for Data),not needed anymore.I can send to you if you want,NO CHARGE,just like to help out a fellow builder.
