insurance cover

Hi,
Has anyone in the UK tried to get insurance cover for their cockpit?
With material costs upwards of £25000, it is something that you may never be able to afford to re build.
If anyone has found a company that is prepared to do so could you please let me know as I have not been able to.

Are the individual components not covered by your home contents insurance. After all, it's just a load of cheaper parts that happen to be lying next to each other

Usually you just give the insurance company a statement of contents/items and they will let you know what is included (or the maximum insured value) or not included. Usually the items not included can be insured with an extra premium.

I think its an interesting point that i never really thought about. I would hope everything is covered by my household contents, just like my laptop etc. I seem to remember a member here almost lost his simulator to a flood.

Thanks for the replies; you paint a very amusing picture (lol).
But joking asideI wonder how many would be laughing if one morning you woke up to the smoldering remains of the garage you built your sim in because some little scrote and a couple of his mates were little bit bored and thought it would be a laugh to set fire to someone’s garage.
This happened to a nabour of mine who had spent 3 years restoring a vintage car, the insurance company paid out a fraction of the cost.
Don’t think your sim is automatically covered by household contents insurance especially if it is in an out building.
Although if you find a company that looks like they may be interested watch their face change when you say £30,000.
The problem seems to be that you are trying to insure something that does not have a makers name/you did not by it from a single manufacturer

I think you need to try not to insure a 'flight simulator' that costs 30k, but as 3 projectors, 6 computers, an FMC, MCP, etc. etc. You'll have the model numbers of all that kit and the insurance company can check it out, even the CPFlight stuff or whatever you may have. And all that stuff is covered on my home contents insurance, with limits like 150k total and no single item over 2k. I think your stumbling block is insuring the thing as a whole.

I do agree with the outbuilding clause though, that needs to be checked as you may be short on cover there.
