    XGA versus WXGA

    Hi All -

I am embarking on a 3 projector visual system employing a curved screen and utilizing Sol7 software and Wideview. I will also be using short-throw projectors.

Given my space limitations a 4:3 aspect ratio would work best for view "fill" from inside the cockpit.

The thing is that XGA (native 4:3 ratio/1024X76 offers lower resolution than WXGA (native 16:10 ratio/1280X800). The thought that I have is to go with a WXGA projector but to operate it in emulated 4:3 aspect ratio.

Any thoughts or comments on this? Visual appearance? Performance? Etc.

Also would be interested in comments about visual quality for XGA vs. WXGA in general.

    Thanks,
    Fred K

So I would be better off going with a projector with a native res of 1280x800 rather than a projector with a native res of 1024x768 compressed to 1280x1024 etc.

The 1280 X 1024 is surely a great option and no doubts better than 1024 x 768. But in my view there are two important considerations:

    A. How deep are your pockets.

    B. How far are your eyes from the projector screen.

So if you are on a budget and a smaller room, then may be a ST with 1024 768 is an optimal (but not the best) solution.

I am no expert on projector but this has been my learning in my project.

Thanks VYBHAV I'll have a projection width of up to 270cm at a distance of about 140-150 cm from the pilot. I'm guessing 1280x800 native will be the best solution. (possibly

I am sure 1280X800 is always a great solution.
