Good FSX C172 for home cockpits?
Now that I've learned to use FSPanelStudio to make my own "instrument cluster" panel, I have a few quick questions...
What is the best C172 for FSX that has outstanding high-res gauges AND cabin view WITHOUT wings/struts coming into play.
I am currently using the Flight1 C172 and it's gauges are great but the model file includes the wings/struts when looking to the sides. It does not include a VC-less model file.
Any ideas? Suggestions? Is it even possible to edit the model file to get rid of the aircraft structures from view?

After doing some research, it seems that the VC issue can easily be remedied by simply replacing the .mdl file with another one that you know does not have the VC structures displayed.
With that being said, does anyone know where to download an .mdl that was created specially for GS home cockpits, where it only shows the propeller?

Re: Good FSX C172 for home cockpits?
There's a user on this forum who goes by Vectro and he has a completed 172 build in Finland that is amazing.
He left the wing struts in based on the view perspective from the pilots seat but removed most of the other elements except the prop. You can check out his sim at Lentosimulaattori There are quite a few pics and videos. It's given me many ideas for my build.
You may want to PM him about this.https://www.facebook.com/mycessnasim PC: Intel Core i7 Haswell @ 3.8GHz, 8Gb Ram, Win 7 64Bit, dual SSDs, GeFroce 780 SIM: P3Dv4.1, FSUIPC5, Link2FSMulti, ASN16, Orbix, REX, BFF Force Feedback

Re: Good FSX C172 for home cockpits?
Hi,
Already sent some pm for Efrain. Our VC mod is for FS2004 and for Real Air C172 model only (freeware).
We also tried to modify F1 Cessna first but it is not possible. Some of the structures cannot be hidden.
Our wing /strut view is actually 2D panel window that is painted over with "invisible" color code (alpha black), then added a wing /strut JPG-picture instead of normal gauge /panel view. Also we removed all functional gauge elements from the wing view picture.
So basically we have a modified Virtual cockpit view and modified 2d panel view layered. (you can add a 2D panel on top of VC panel by pressing SHIFT + 1 )
You can see the mod in action here: (new Rex / Active Sky clounds added)

Re: Good FSX C172 for home cockpits?
This is a superb setup, and one that I would aspire to having, but its unlikely. Can you please give some details of the projection system you are using? What GPU, projectors and software etc.
Much appreciated.

We have moved to X-Plane 10. For the current setup we use 3 x PC's and 3 video projectors.

Re: Good FSX C172 for home cockpits?
I have X plane, FX and P3D, but have not installed them yet as I finally got my overclock stable enough to put them all on. Hopefully I will be able to progress to a projected display in time.
Thanks for the reply, it looks excellent so will keep an eye on your progress via Facebook.
