MIP Choices
Hello,
I want to build a B737-800NG Main Instrument Panel but I have some questions about it. Yesterday I searched a bit on the Internet and found this three choices:
Poldragonet:
- The cheapest one off all three
- Good quality products
- Hard to communicate with (bad support)
CockpitSonic:
- A bit more money than the first one
- Good quality products
- Not easy to communicate with (not the best support)
Simworld:
- Cost the most of this list
- Good quality products
- Really easy to communicate with (good support / www.aviosim.org)
I don't know which wan I have to choose. I am only 16 years old and have €1500,- to spend (for the MIP, so also the MCP / EFIS, ...). I hope some people can help me because it's really hard to make a choice!

Re: MIP Choices
Hi,
I would keep looking on Ebay or the classified section of this site. They come up for sale every so often and you will get a lot more for your money buying second hand.
Remember that once you buy the MIP it does not stop there, you need the landing gear lever, ASDF etc, which all adds up.
I got an excellent deal on ebay and got far more than I would have bought if I had to buy it knew - I know that goes without saying BUT I would never have bought the ACE yoke, or Engravity CDU, or CPFlightPro MCP, or CPFlightEfisPro if I didn't get my deal for basically everything in one lot on Ebay.

Re: MIP Choices
Hello,
Thanks for all your answers, I really appreciate it. I think the best thing to do (with my money) is buying the panels and MCP / EFIS from OpenCockpits and buy the knobs separately, this is the cheapest option. I hope to buy some of the stuff on Ebay (specially the MCP / EFIS, this aren't cheap things) but I didn't found something for now.
Thanks for the answers and advice.
Rik
[EDIT]
The only thing I'm scared for is that I didn't buy the right knobs by the panels from OpenCockpits. I am going to contact the AviationMegaStore and hope they will figure it out. If they will, I am going to buy all the stuff this weekend

Re: MIP Choices
Hi Rik
If you are up to making it yourself there are a lot to save. Have a look a my site, I have used the MCP and EFIS from OC, panels and knobs as well. All via Megastore. The MIP it self can be made for a few EUR's.
Regards
Claus

Re: MIP Choices
Thank you very much for your answer. I want to build whats called 'the base' (of MDF) by myself and the panel for the base by a local carpenter (this is to hard for me to build by my own, and I also don't have the stuff to work with).
I hope I can ask you a question about the OC panels.
How did you knew what knobs you need to buy for the OC panels? On the site (Aviationmegastore.com) you see whats 'not included' but I am very scared to buy the wrong knobs.
The MCP and EFIS are the most expensive part of the MIP. This is the reason that I think I am going to build the MIP first and hope that when I finished, I have bought an MCP and EFIS (OC) from Ebay or somewhere else.
Thanks for your time,
Rik
Ps: I've got a message from Megastore. They said that the panels from OC are ready for me
I'm going to Megastore this saturday. I think that my dream is becoming reality

Re: MIP Choices
Hi Rik
Lucky you, that you can go and visit the store, I would like to do that too. I have only seen the store trough delivery's trough UPS
Have you seen this page:
http://www.opencockpits.com/catalog/...ex.php?cPath=4
Here you can see the knobs. Otherwise I have used Airliners.net and made search on cockpit views. The knobs can differ from cockpit to cockpit.
Regards

Re: MIP Choices
Thanks for sharing the link. I have one question... Here is a list what I had in mind:
- B737 first officer's annunciators (set)
- B737 Captain's annunciators (set)
- B737 Landing Gear Panel
- B737NG autobrakes/Flaps panel
- B737 Flaps indicator
- B737 Glare Lighting (captain side)
- B737 Glare lighting (F/O side)
- B737 Landing Gear
- B737 EFIS module (mounted & with box)
- B737 MCP with orange digits (without box)
The LED's buy I separately from someone. Is there anything missing in my list to buy a MIP? Megastore ask's me if I want the yaw damper and brake pressure to, can somebody advise me (to buy / not to buy)?

Re: MIP Choices
Hi,
I bought my yaw damper and brake pressure from hispapanels. They are dummy gauges but that suits me fine.
You are missing the AFDS panels - these do not come cheap (about £110 - and you need 2 of them).
You will also need a way for the MIP to communicate with flight sim. I use the CPFlight board - once again it dont come cheap.
I would wait a few more weeks before you make your purchase, so that you know exactly what you need and dont make an expensive mistake.
Allan.
