Encoders with 20 detents
Hello,
Is it possible to use encoders with 20 detents with OC cards? I have built my EFIS & MCP (B73with 20 detent gray 2 bit encoders but am having trouble getting them to work.
Looks like I'll be dismantling the lot to change the encoders, but obviously hoping to avoid this.
Thanks in advance for any guidance.
My regards
Dave

Re: Encoders with 20 detents
Hi Dave,
I think o/c m/c requires 1/4 cycle(CTS28detent encoders to work directly. If one uses the Encoders 2 card and uses Terrys modified code one can use 1/2 cycle or full cycle ones. How this compares to you ones you would have to compare Dtatsheets.
Here is link to his site which better explains things. Hope this helps.

Re: Encoders with 20 detents
Dave,
Hope you find the solution, replacing all of your encoders would be a beggar and costly.

Re: Encoders with 20 detents
Just thought I would report back and say the 20 detent encoders do work. I used the Leo Bodnar BU0836X cards and now have to find a way of speeding up the rotation speed.
Looks like a mixture of FSUIPC & Lua script might help. Just need to become a programmer now!

Re: Encoders with 20 detents
Hi Dave,
Yes thats right Leos card works with many encoders ,even cheap one off ebay.
Have a look here ,this is what you want.

Re: Encoders with 20 detents
If you mean to connect these to an OC Mastercard, no.
Only 2-bit Gray Type Rotary Encoder with 1/4 cycle per detent and 16 detents/revolution, can be connected directly to two consecutive inputs of an OC MasterCard.
Read here for more information.

Nico

Re: Encoders with 20 detents
Hi Les & Nico,
Thanks for your replies, much appreciated.
@ Les, that post you kindly linked to is the one I have been using. The problem is I cannot fathom how to get a second card configured. Just to to keep at it I guess.
Thanks again.
Dave
