USB Simboards stopped working
Hello!
I have been a satisfied Simboard user for years now but now my Simboard chain suddenly gave up working. (My chain consists of the master, two input and two output modules).
They are not recognised any more - I have tried it on three different Windows XP PCs now without success.
The software doesn't even ask me to install the proper driver.
What I have tried so far:
1.: Tested connected on two different powered USB hubs
2.: Tested connected on an PCI USB 2.0 card
3.: Tested with external power supply (12V)
4.: Removed all modules except the first one building only a single-module chain
5.: Tried three different USB cables in various lengths (1 to 2 metres)
I really don't know what else I could try - it has always worked so fine, but now I'm rather despirated.
Do you think my master module has broken down?
Many thanks in advance for your help!
Christoph

Re: USB Simboards stopped working
Hi there try booting up with just the master module plugged and then check the USB hardware list to see if the device is working properly. I had a glitch like this after my sim had been in storage for 7 months. As soon as I rebooted without anything plugged in to the Master Module, it all came good again. Fingers crossed for you!
Soon my sim will be dismantled once again for it's major overhaul which includes conversion to FDS SYS1X/Sim Avionics and 2 x FDS FMC units, I will be selling my FDT boards after that I guess!
Cheers Gwyn

Re: USB Simboards stopped working
Thank you for your advice, Gwyn.
Unfortunately it didn't work in my case. The master module isn't detected at all - even alone. The only thing I can do is to force the installation manually (adding new hardware) but then XP gives me the reply "The device could not be started, Code 10".
So I must say definitely the master module is damaged.
But what should I do? FDT isn't on duty again - very annoying - and where do I get a new platine...?
Best regards and further help appreciated!

Re: USB Simboards stopped working
Hi Christoph,
I have a spare FDT Master Module, it is unused and I will sell it to you if you wish, send me a PM if you would like to buy it! I won't need it because of my conversion to the new FDS interface card.
Cheers, Gwyn
