Connecting Mastercard to USB Expansion
I have a strange one guys, I have been testing various inputs and outputs using Controlador. When the MC and USB expansion card are joined directly via their 25 pin ports there is no problems. However when I join them using the parallel cable supplied by OC the same inputs I have tested previously do not work at all and the outputs are very erratic. I have checked the cable twice with my multimeter and all pins are OK. Am I missing something obvious like a setting in an .ini file or something else? I can use the cards when they are joined directly but I am curious to what I may be doing wrong.
Thanks, DaveDave Kemp

Re: Connecting Mastercard to USB Expansion
Dave
Have you tried "waggling" the ribbon cable when the cards are connected to see if the prolem goes away or gets worse. I have had something similar before and it was a badly crimped cable provided by OC. Changed the cable and all ok

Re: Connecting Mastercard to USB Expansion
Hi Dave,
Im not quite surewhat you are trying to do. Usually one connects the M/C via the usb expansion card using the specified connector on the M/C or the Parallel port.
It sound like you maybe trying to connect the m/c-USB expansion card via one of the other sockets on the M/c to a parallel port.
Excuse me if im misinterpreting what you have done.
If M/C only is being connected to the // port then it maybe the setting in the bios for the port. There are a few options and trial and error is the best
solution. However these ports can be funny and for this reason thats why the USB expansion board was made. My advice is to only connect via the
Usb exp card.
Hope this helps.

Re: Connecting Mastercard to USB Expansion
Les,
Thanks for taking the time to offer up some advice. I am connecting the USB Expansion card to the computer and do not use the parallel port on the computer at all. My problem arises when I connect the Master Card to the USB Expansion card. If that connection is made directly using the sockets on these cards all is well. It is when I use the cable supplied by OC to connect the Master Card to the USB Expansion card things go off the rails. Inputs are not recognized at all, outputs are erratic, LED displays the same.
For now it is not a drastic issue as my layout allows me to make the direct connection (ie. no cable) between the cards.
I should note that I am also corresponding with OC directly via email and their support has been very good. We have not solved the problem yet but they are responsive and offering suggestions.
Cheers, DaveDave Kemp
