Visuals Advice Please
I went to my local comet today to get advise on what lcd tv i should be looking at for my set up.
The salesman advised that all i need is an lcd tv that runs at 100mhz and has an hdmi connection from the tv to connect via my pc hdmi.
Is it really as simple as that?
My pc specs are :-
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit /Amd Phenom 9950 quad core 2.6ghz /Asus M3N72-D motherboard /Nvidea nForce 750a chipset / Nvidea GTX275 / 8gb ddr2 ram (5-5-5-15) / Directx 11 / FS9 running PMDG & Fsxpand/ Mcp737el / Efis737el / Fly Engravity Captains & Centre panels

Re: Visuals Advice Please
HDMI is only of use if your VGA card has that as an output.
I don't think 100Hz is a requirement.
Most modern LCD TV's have a standard D-Sub VGA input you could use, but you'll probably need a DVI to D-Sub adaptor if your VGA card doesn't have the older VGA output.
Basically, any TV will display an output from a PC, but as in all things, the more you pay, the better you get!

Re: Visuals Advice Please
Thanks sean,
i havnt been doing much to my build lately,we have just moved to new house.
I just now borrowed the boys lcd tv to test and confirm it worked ok except not all the screen was visible at the edges but i assume this may be because the tv is hd ready but not full 1080 hd.
Im still not sure if say one 37/40 inch lcd tv will give me a wider field of view or if should go for two 22in monitors and a matrox dual head connector
any advise please

Re: Visuals Advice Please
Depends on the space availiable and the amount of $$$ you wish to spend.
IMHO the best way to take advantage of FS virtual view, which has 130 degrees external visual view, is 3 lcd TVs with one TH2GO. This way one can install the three TVs in a "curved" way (the center lined up and the other two cornered 30 degress) giving a better result in virtual external view. What I am saying is, try to get three TVs, even smaller in size, than two or one bigger in size.
I use 3 x 20" TFTs in such a way and I feel a kind of wrap around feeling even with 20" TFTs . I aim to go to 3 42-47 LCD (or 50" plasma) TVs soon in the same way.

Re: Visuals Advice Please
Ok Thanks Nick,
Desicions,desicions.
I have at hte moment one 22in monitor in font of me the captains side with enough room to add 2x more 22in next to this ie one over centre panel and one over fo side which would give me a 66in forward view.
Im not too worried about the side, wrap round view at this time just want to have an overall better forward view.
So if im thinking right x3 22in monitors with a TH2GO would give me a wider fov than just x1 40in lcd tv?
Also the one 22in acer x222w monitor i own i believe is obsolete now so can i just add x2 more 22in monitors alongside and have no colour
matching issues or should i really get x3 the same make and model?
Thanks
Steve

Re: Visuals Advice Please
I have read that TH2GO is sensitive with different resolutions, not makes. So if the 3 x 22" screens have the same resolution you will have no problems.
Of course it is nicer to have a 3 TFTs that look the same, but that's subjective

Re: Visuals Advice Please
Nick,
Thanks again,
Im now seriously looking at TH2GO and im back to TFT.
x3 TFT running at 1366x768
or
x3 TFT running at 1920x1020
I believe both the above options would work with the TH2GO,please correct me if im wrong.
I assume that the larger res will just give me slightly more panoramic view.
Also when you install aTH2GO i assume in fs itself you just change the res to 4098x768 (for x3 1366x76
5760 x 1020 (for x3 1920x1020)
What i dont want if i can help it is having two black stripes at the outer edges of the three monitors if that makes sense.
Thanks again
Steve

Re: Visuals Advice Please
You can use a DVI to HDMI cable. Works perfect and much better than the standard VGA connector
