Building a seamless lcd display!
It makes me wonder how to build a seamless LCD display, grouping 3 LCD modules together and creating an all round visual without seeing that ugly border seperating each screen from another.
I believe that it is possible to build a 3 module display without borders......
Firstly by removing the actual monitor from the housing will narrow the gap between monitors which is what you want, but for completely removing the border, I guess we have to go a little further and actually open up the LCD panel itself....
The LCD glass sits on a series of reflective sheets which distributes the light from the inverters which are located 'top' and 'bottom' of the screen. These inverters are what lights up the screen by the use of the reflective layers.
Inverters, however, are not situated left and right of the screen, and there appears to be nothing to side of the panel, little less than the ugly metal housing that keeps the monitor compact and enclosed in its housing.
So if we were to remove the 'left' and 'right' side of the housing...ie the side of the aluminium frame, could the monitors not be shunted next to each other creating a seamless cluster of 3 or 5 (or however many?) monitors creating an curved visual without the horrible borders / seams....
It would appear logical that this could happen....
The below video just proves how very little is in the way of the sides of the monitor:
(3:38 shows the lcd module in its true form)
Could this idea really be possible to create a seamless display?
....deep thinking by me.....lol

Re: Building a seamless lcd display!
Extremely educational, thanks Alex.
Regarding seamless, well, probably be a tiny seam, but much better then putting monitors with frames together.
Again Alex, thanks for the video post.
