Throttle build diary
Not much to look at but i have finally started the throttle.
I shall keep posting as i progress. Got the Dividing walls (?) cut out and the centre spindle ready to take the throttle levers which were very very kindly donated to me by Jackpilot.
Once i source all the components i need and take the advise of a fellow member on here about covering with plastic i should have a very good TQ.
I shall go to a little machine shop i know tomorrow and see if i can have the little detent arc made up from aluminium for the flaps lever.

Good stuff...it IS nice to get things off the drawing board / out of the imagination and on to wood!!
Good luck

Hi Steve,
If you want some pics for reference and or ideas you can check out my TQ album. Is always good when you can check other projects to minimize construction time or improve the design bit by bit, at the end we all benefit. Feel free to pm me if you have questions about the pics.

Re: Throttle build diary
I found a great covering for the throttle in the back of my van
10 and 8 inch plastic sewer pipe, its 1/8th inch thick and fits snug on the radius of the mdf. Once cut and screwed in place i could stand on top off my throttle so its pretty strong.
I have undercoated the whole thing but im not going to sand or fill until the final assembly as i still have to fit the slide pots and levers and cut out the slots etc. Its going better than i thought it would though and i'm glad i embarked upon this as i had a lot of reservations.
These are the current pics of the tq but remember its just a quick screw together to see how it looked.
Thanks Steve

Re: Throttle build diary
Spent another couple of hours today cutting the throttle lever slots out and adding the various bits of trim.
Now i just have to wait for my levers, pots, and interface card to arrive, then the whole thing will be stripped filled sanded and painted, and of course interfaced with fsuipc. Total cost so far 20 euro's

Re: Throttle build diary
Steve, for 20 euros thats absolutely fantastic! I love it. To help you keep costs down if you don't have two toggle switch guards that go on the Stab trim i'll send you over a couple with switches for postage cost. Let me know if you're in need and i'll put them in a small box for you.
Bet your pleased you went this route in the end, i know it took a bit of convincing you didn't it!

To say im pleased is a bloomin under statement im over the moon with the results so far, especially given the cost.
I put the TQ in front of my pedestal earlier and it looks sweet.... the crowning glory so far lol
