vulcano erupts on Iceland
HI,
Today a lot of flights are cancelled due a vulcao eruption on iceland,
knowing what can happen when a engine swallows too much of it,
I think all the caution with it is very wise.
UPDATE: the Dutch airspace is closed now (14:00 local time)
When once you have tasted flight,
you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward

My youngest was supposed to fly out from Larnaca to Prague last night on a school trip, Cancelled completely, shes devastated, I suggested we load up the same flight in the sim but it went down like a lead ballon.

I'm on holiday in Tenerife at the moment. Nobody is going home at the moment. I'm due to return Tuesday, wonder if it'll all be back to normal by then??? On the positive side, the weather's great!

Re: vulcano erupts on Iceland
I just spent 20 hours driving home to MAD from AMS, since being stuck on Weds afternoon - lucky I have a good employer who helped me find transport - now, I´m discovering I am getting a bit old for 1700Km trips overnight that usually take 2hrs in a shiny tube reading the newspaper!
My advice for the next days in Europe - stay at home (or whichever airport you have the pleasure of sleeping in!)

Re: vulcano erupts on Iceland
until sunday 8:00 Dutch airspace will stay closed.
I just arrived home after a long day of paragliding.
from 500m. height the dust at the horizon was clearly visible.
It was strange, no condens trails, no airtraffic a lot of sun, just perfectWhen once you have tasted flight,
you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward

Re: vulcano erupts on Iceland
I am flying to Palma THIS FRIDAY!!! (23RD) for my girlfriends 29th birthday, we go to the same place every year and this year it looks very slim, we are flying from London Stansted to Palma Mallorca with Ryanair. I am thinking that we are going to have to rebook for about a months time. I am gutted.
What do you think the likelyhood is of me going this friday? (23rd)......GA or the Highway!
