Basic MasterCard Question
Sorry to bother you all, I just have a very basic question.
I am confused as to whether the MasterCard possesses any Inputs or is it simply a central bus that when the correct module is connected, can allow for inputs?
I can't seem to find any solid answer, the main this that confused me is the Rotary Encoder product page states 'Can be connected directly to master card'
Sorry again!

Re: Basic MasterCard Question
Hi
The Mastercard has 72 inputs available via a 40 way connector. The easiest way is to purchase from OC a breakout board which connects via a 40 pin flat cable to one of the mastercard sockets. The breakout board has provision for 36 inputs via screw connectors.
The OC manual can be found here
http://www.opencockpits.com/catalog/...ml?cPath=21_27
A word of caution as the number of usable outputs is only circa 38 (not 64 as their documentation suggests ), some outputs are used to multiplex the displays bus

Re: Basic MasterCard Question
Right, but if you do not use the multiplexed displays on the card then all of the inputs can be used.

Re: Basic MasterCard Question
There are circa 38 outputs that can be user configured. The remaining ones are dedicated to the multiplexed bus for the 7 seg segment displays and DB9 connector etc and to the best of my knowledge are not accessible to the user. Do you know otherwise? If so then I would be interested to know how you access them through SIOC

Re: Basic MasterCard Question
I have only hooked the card up to the PC to make sure all the settings were right (LPT) so far.... but I am worried about the usefullness of the card in my pit in terms of troubles getting it to work properly for my needs compared to the troubles getting there...

Re: Basic MasterCard Question
Hi David,
I thought all 45 outputs were available??? 38 from the J2 40 pin connector numbers 11 to 48 and then another 7 on the P2 DB9 connector numbers 49 to 55?
Have I misunderstood it again
Cheers

Re: Basic MasterCard Question
Mike
Oops, you are correct. Apologies, I was focussing on the suggestion that the multiplex outputs were available for general use. Glad you are around to keep me in line
