need help understanding

Hello all,
so Im starting to get into SIOC finally and I must say I love it. I plan on following nico's footsteps and develop a sim based on the lvld 767. But I am starting with generic craft for now.I have been looking thru example scripts online and reverse engineering them to help me understand. however I am stuck with the autopilot altitude encoder. not sure which offset I should be writing to. if some one could please point me in the right direction or even write a simple code for one encoder no push button. just something that would change the alt setting so I can see whats happening. I under stand the nav1 encoder thanks to nico. but like I said im pretty green with this.
